Hi,

I just want all people associated with autism to have a look at this disturbing link I found while doing a general search on autism on Google. http://www.rotten.com/library/medicine/epidemics/autism/

Rotten is a website that promotes what is the �darker� side to life in (as you can see) in a sarcastic and �trying to be clever� way. I was shocked when I read the misrepresentation of autism and this page which only goes to spreading fear and misunderstanding. Even the pictures of �so called� autistic kids are only there to show them as different, sad and hard to deal with.

If you look at this page and disagree or feel offended, please, please! send your thoughts to staff@rotten.com and ask them to remove their page as I have. Lets stop the misinterpretation and misunderstanding. Autism isn�t something to be generally joked about. A warning, the rotten website contains a lot of material that can be seen as offensive. Don�t wander further into their website if you find pictures of death, illness and pornography offensive.

I have been using google for autism searches for several years and not once was I given a link to that site.

Very bizarre, looked through it really quick and will do more tomorrow. Their FAQs state they dont listen to emails complaining about photos, etc.

This site is a satire site. It is adult oriented and has offensive material on just about everything. I wrote to the owners of the site in a carfull worded email. THe only response I recieved ridiculed me for confusing the word "sartorical" for "satirical," and not to go about making up words. I didn't deem them worth a reply back.

Because they are unable to repond to any valid points made the only thing they are able to do is nit pick on any minor element possible.

When I looked at the site, specificly, it appeared they had taken bits and pieces of actual articles and turned them slightly askew with minor changes in the wording and interpretation of data. They also had photos of children that appearred to be staged. Most of the children were activly engaging the camera's "eye" while posing.

The only thing really that can be done is to let any one who references this know it is a site known for parody and satire, tasteless though it is, and therefore is for entertainment purposes only.
