"Best" of anything is always a subjective matter, don't you think? Even the Oscar runners are nominated by the body of the Academy members who all are in the industry which sends a message that these are those who know best about what constitutes artful achievement.
But what about the cinema goers? Those who fork over money to buy tickets to sit in the theater seats? Forget art, they want entertainment. And just as art does, entertainment *moves* people. We want movies that get us to feel something.
Oscar mistakes? I think so. I also think how sad it is that there are front runners who are equally superb but have the misfortune of being in the same race. I also think it is sad how comedies are not given their due.
It was nice to see that they allowed for ties this year.
