My new article is a review of Pete Seeger's How To Play The 5-String Banjo. You can read it here Pete Seeger's 5-String Banjo Book Review . Let me know how you like it. Thanks!

Cheers!

Excellent article! I love those folk songs. Can you post a picture of what a horse hat looks like? Keep up the good work Sabira!

Thank you Lovely Rita! Lol! That hat is long gone... but maybe I can find something similar and post a picture.

I didn't used to enjoy the sounds of a banjo, but I'm noticing that more and more I am loving its unique sound!

I love its brash, sparkling cheerfulness. You can be singing "Goin' down the road feelin' bad... I ain't gonna be treated this a' way!", and the banjo makes it feel like a happy song!

Have you listened to Bella Fleck And The Flecktones?

Okay, I just youtubed them! Flippen' AWESOME!! They sound so Celtic LOL!! Of course they were doing Loch Lamond ;D

You're right - the banjo is so bright, it just always sounds happy!

I think I just took issue with it a long time ago because of Deliverance :::urrrr::::

Lol! Check out Sinister Minister-Flecktones. This was the first performance by them I saw. After that, I had to see them whenever they came to SD. I am going to look for their version of Loch Lomond. I've never heard it!

Pete Seeger gained immense appreciation and respect around the world by being true to himself. His humanitarian messages, expressed in songs and narrative, are still powerful inspirations for constructive change. And he brought the traditional music he loved into the forefront, so it would never be lost.

What can we learn from this?
