If you're dreaming of a white Christmas, the cosmos may have something of interest. How about deep snow on one of Saturn's moons, a gigantic Christmas tree whose lights are baby stars, a snowman on an asteroid or an Einstein ring?
Nebula Barnard 3 is a star-forming region. In this picture it looks a lot like a Christmas wreath. (It is sometimes known as the Wreath Nebula.) The dusty red cloud is cooler than the regions around it. There's a bright star in it which probably causes the glow in the surrounding ring. It's hotter and brighter than the Sun. The green ring which forms the wreath is warm dust whose particles are similar to earthly smog.
