While I don't think anyone "needs" to buy this book until they have a child in middle school or high school, it is never too early to prepare for college. Students need to start seriously preparing in middle school. (Of course, college preparation can be done without purchasing any book -- it is just sometimes nice to have.)
There are activities for children of all ages to help them start planning for their futures. Simple things like introducing children to new and different careers, visiting college campuses, children's books or coloring books about careers, discussing the topic of college or future jobs are all helpful in helping kids think about about there futures.
