Every 2-3 years I cut my hair off and donate it to charity. I've done Locks of Love several times. I've also done Pantene's charity organization several times. This year I was thinking of actually selling the hair, and donating the proceeds to charity. I think I might get more net benefit that way for the charity.

Any suggestions on where I should sell it? Is it long enough do you think, or should I grow it out longer? Thoughts on how much to ask?

Hmmm I'm feeling a little less certain of my plan after looking at TheHairTrader. My hair is 'only' 12 inches from where I make a ponytail down to the bottom. There are people on there with 32" of hair! Some of these people with 24" look to have the same length of hair as I do so I'm not quite sure how they're measuring it. Maybe to the top of their head? Which doesn't make sense, unless you shaved your head, and even then, not all the hair will be that long ...

Lisa you have pretty hair i would think its long enough. As far as i know it doesn�t have to be extreme long to donate or sell.

Well now TheHairTrader site is down!! I have to wait for them to come back up before I can even try to do the sale ... it's frustrating!

OK finally the site is back up and apparently under new management. Time to take some new photos and to figure out a plan!

Well, I've got a LOT of requests from guys who want to give me a buzz cut. One guy offered me $2000 to give me a buzz cut. I admit I'm half tempted, I always liked the movie GI Jane. But Bob is against it. And also since part of my purpose here is to encourage other women to donate their hair - and most women would be really upset at the idea of getting a buzz cut - I wouldn't be serving my purpose well by doing that. So I'd get more money up front for charity but long term wouldn't be encouraging lots of other women to do it.

So for now I'm telling the guys no, I will only get it cut short, but not a buzz.

Bob (my boyfriend) is also making comments about wanting it to not go shorter than shoulder length. Normally when I do this I make a pony tail and then cut above it, so the hair is shorter than shoulder length to begin with. I admit I'm not happy with it that short, but that way I can donate the most hair. If he really does want me to keep it shoulder length then I need to revise my listing so that it has the shorter amount of hair available. So I'm pondering that. If I do that then I'll drop the price to match.
