It is really amazing that such a relatively small change can make such a *huge* difference in your health!

I know many people who have written me and said they lost weight on low carb and were able to stop taking their diabetes medicines as a result. So it really does make a big difference in your daily life to even lose a little weight.

I love Queen Latifah and I'm glad that she is taking care of herself. She will be such a great role model!

I think that is the key here. I am not for people going on starvation diets or saying "I want to look sexy so I get a new role!" But if someone says "I am worried about diabetes and if I lose weight I will cut my risk of diabetes in half" that seems to be a very different situation. I agree completely that women don't have to be stick-thin to be beautiful. I think many curvy women are gorgeous. But they need to be healthy too. If they are at a weight where they are at serious risk for diabetes or cancer, that's not good. If they are losing weight to be a more healthy weight for their size, shape, bone structure etc. that seems to be something we should all embrace!

I've always admired Queen Latifah for just being herself. I remember seeing her on TV recently talking about going on a diet. She admitted she will never be skinny but wants to be healthy. Good for her! I love it when people use health as a goal for weight loss instead of an unrealistic "six-pack abs" goal.

Right exactly Trish - I like women with natural curves. But they should be healthy too, it would be a real shame for vital role models like this to die off early due to something preventable.
