Not counting when you were really sick, what's the most hours you've slept naturally? I think I must have been sleep deprived or something, but I went to bed at 11am yesterday morning and didn't wake up until about 11pm. I can easily sleep for 10 hours at a stretch if the mood hits me.

Note that I keep our bedroom very quiet and very dark so nothing is there to 'wake me up'.

Oh! How I wish I could sleep for that long! Just once in awhile...

I tend to sleep about 5-7 hours a night on a good night and less on other nights. I have a tendency to wake around 3-4 in the morning (regardless of bed time) and then I can't go back to sleep.

My fiance on the other hand has received the nickname Bear from one of my friends for his ability to sleep for hours on end. (With noise, sunlight, etc.)

Chelsea is right around the corner - though I don't get over there much. Isn't that the way it always seems to work? grin

Well I get all confused after things like this about when I *should* sleep. Like right now - I've been awake for 16 1/2 hrs now which I guess means I should be going to sleep if we assume people sleep 8 hours a "night". But it's bright sunlight outside so I'm not quite feeling sleepy. And I'm drinking my breakfast shake. Also I'm waiting for an ebay auction to end in an hour and a half. So I'll probably wait for that and then go to sleep ...

After working a 9 to 5 job for years it has been hard to adapt to the I can sleep when I want to mentality. It use to be I had to be in bed by a certain time so I can awake at a certain time now it is when I want to sleep/get up and it is strange.

What makes it more difficult is do have a couple of days that I need to be in town for meetings so I do have to be up (with the alarm - YUCK!) and that really screws me up!

Rosie - parking is usually decent unless there is a snow emergency (like today) then it is real difficult!

I've worked every shift, including overnights, and not worked at all. My sleep schedule has been inconsistent since high school. Due to SAD, I sleep more in the winter. This time of year, depending on my obligations for the following day, I sleep anywhere from 4-14 hours. If I have to be up early for work, I usually get 4-6 hours. If I can sleep as late as I like, I'll sleep for 10-14 hours.

I generally just sleep as much as I need to when I can. I'm a night-owl by nature, and with my current work schedule (usually 9am-6pm), I can't get to sleep early enough to get even close to 8 hours on the nights before work days. So I catch up when I can.

Lisa, I've pulled countless 20-30 hour days to get my sleep schedule back on track after a sleep binge. I'd suggest staying up as long as you can to improve the odds of being able to sleep through the night. Do whatever you need to do to get back to your normal schedule.
