I love these quotes:

"I went to several doctors, trying to get them to prescribe a weight-loss pill." But none of her doctors would give her the quick fix she was looking for. Instead, a physician handed her a 1,600-calorie-a-day diet and told her to start moving.

What I found interesting was that she thought (when she weighed 295) that she ate well and moved enough. It wasn't until she kept a food diary that she actually realized how much she was overeating.

I have been to Weight Watchers and they like you to keep a journal of what you eat!!

I hate that......but it might help.........

Deb - I actually thought about that for a long while too. But it really does come down to the people you hang out with. If your friends and family eat a certain way you think of it as completely normal and never question it. Heck, you might be eating less than they do and think you're doing quite well!

It's why finding friends who eat healthy can be so key in your own being healthy. If your friends all get salads and grilled food, it might make you think twice about your triple-potato main dish with a side of potatoes smile

Hey Everyone,
Im doing a 1,500 calorie diet and lost 12lbs in a week and 3 days by working out, eating smaller portions. I walk inside my building doing 2 laps around and crunches.

Yup that is the guy who said "I walked off my first 100 pounds," he says. "Walked it off, an hour a day. I lost 100 pounds in seven months." - we have a post about that elsewhere in this forum! Very inspiring.

That's great news on the 12 pounds in a week! Definitely taking walks is SO good for you. You really don't have to do "killer exercise" to make a difference. Even just short walks can help a *lot*.

Smaller portions is so key too! Lots of us eat mindlessly and finish whatever is on the plate. If there is less on the plate we are just as full.
