Pets are the love of our lives. They deserve and require a safe and healthy life. A good pet owner needs to plan and budget for the rising costs of pet care. Are you prepared?

Who are your pets? Have you planned and prepared for their care and costs of that care?

Great article, Sandra, and all very true.

We started out with health insurance for our dog Sadie (my avatar) but when she needed surgery to remove a lump (benign) it cost about $1000 and we recovered only $300 from her insurance.

After that we cancelled the policy and started putting money into a 'pet account' every month for her and our cat, and this works out much better.

Grace,

Thank you so much for sharing. I hope Sadie and your cat are doing well.

I appreciate your sharing your experiences with pet insurance. This is a great help to our forum readers since I don't have personal experience with having pet insurance. I have thought about getting it for my two cats (Socky and Miss Kitty). But, for now, I am opting to have a 'pet account' like you. I did the same thing for all my previous pets.

Btw - Sadie is beautiful.

Ever have the experience of buying your pet a toy and finding they like the crinkly packing paper or box better and ignore the toy?
