I'm sure most of you have already heard this, but I was just reading "Your Truest Self" - a book with twelve women's stories in it. It talks quite a bit about meditation and said to try just focusing on your breathing. In. Out. In. Out. If your mind wanders, don't get annoyed, just accept it and go back to focusing on your breathing.

I can't last very long before my mind wanders, but I'm trying! smile

Almost all my meditations on the Meditation site include instructions for regular even breathing.

I just posted this article on another breathing technique for meditation that helps center the body and mind:

That's a great article! Unfortunately for me, I get stuck on this one. This is recommended in all my yoga books and it's where I realized I have a problem. I was in a car accident in my early 20s and broke my nose. Now only half of my nose works properly. I am going to bring it up with my doctor when I go in next week! Getting my nose fixed is something I've put off for many years, but maybe I should finally do it.

My brother had his nose fixed to be able to breathe on both sides; he said it was worth going through the surgery.

They told me I would have to be awake during the surgery, when I asked previously, and that thought scares me. I do have an appointment to go talk with a new person to see if they can fix my nose with me being asleep smile

When my kids would hurt themselves, cry and be so upset they couldn't catch their breath I would hug them till they calmed down.

So, I ask you, what do you do to calm down when you are less upset? Try that.

Do you have asthma?

I talked with the nose doctor and she says my nose is really twisted inside, and that she will definitely put me to sleep when they fix it. So I am scheduled to go in for the surgery in August. I'm very nervous about it, but I have wanted to fix my breathing for many years now. I was just scared to do it. I finally feel that oxygen and healthy breathing really are worth it. We will see how I feel when I wake up after the surgery though! Apparently this is very painful.
