Oh, the list in the article might be deceptive in that way -- many of the other names on the list are
far from traditional.
I think people who prefer traditional names like them because they will stand the test of time. They sound neither "new" nor "dated," they're easy to say, they're easy to spell, they don't draw attention to themselves, and so forth. A lot of people like these qualities in a name.
(The people who like modern names are the ones who tend to go the "famous people" route -- Mariah, Rihanna, etc.)
