The name "Apache tear" comes from a legend of the Apache tribe. They are frozen tears, shed and lost in the sands of time.
Apache Tears can heal grief and give protection and grounding -- they are strong in spiritual grounding and psychic protection. They are pieces of obsidian, volcanic glass.

Phyllis, I think you know how much I appreciate the power of stones. I have an Apache Tear, and it is so precious to me. So sweet.
I used to have many of them, maybe a dozen or so, because of a lovely friend whose father used to find them in the desert. She gave me a handful of them, and I, in turn, have shared them with people over the years.
One young lady, in particular, told me she couldn't stop wearing hers (she put in in a beautiful little medicine bag). She had so much grief in her life, and it really helped her.

That is so wonderful, Deanna, that your friend found the Apache Tear helped her. The power of stones is sometimes so profound. I have a few Thunder Eggs that help me so much at times when I need help. One of them has a crystal flower in the center and it is so beautiful.
I would love to have an Apache Tear - someday, I will find one that is right for me, or actually, like other precious stones, it will find me.
