Editors way back when attacked John Donne's poems which may have changed some of the meanings! Seems awesome, but I guess this is a trend in literature. The early works that were primarily told as verbal tales were written down wrong by the monks (they gave them all a christian twist), so now all those anglo-saxon stories like Beowoulf just aren't quite what they should be!
