It would be fun to dress up my pet this year but I haven't come up with anything yet. I have to think of something that fits her personality: cute and sweet!

Who knew that Halloween costumes are so popular for pets? I went to the pet food store today and there were costumes everywhere! Martha Stewart even has her own line of pet costumes. I'll make a wild guess here and say that homemade costumes can be darling and definitely cheaper than the ones at the pet store!

They are growing more popular too. The prices I have seen at some of the specialty shops is outrageous. I much rather make my own. Besides, we pay more attention to our pet's comfort!!

Yes, there is a growing industry for pet clothing! As for costumes, I read somewhere that this season's fad is to dress up your pet as a different animal (species). If that's the case, a natural choice for our dog would be a bat. She kind of has a bat face! A cute one at that. But I don't want to dress her up as a bat. I still don't know what to do yet.

I have seen a lot of really cute pet costumes this year. Last year my two-year old granddaughter was dressed as a skunk. Which happens to be one of my favorite pets. Now it is time to rethink some of these costumes. A little girl was shot because a relative mistook her for a "real skunk???"

Seriously?!?! She must have been one tiny little girl to be mistaken for a skunk or it was a near-sighted (and dim-witted) relative!
Anyway, why do people shoot skunks? Why don't they just shoo them away back into the woods?

I agree, I was highly suspicious over the whole thing. I heard it on the news when I was in a hotel in Sioux Falls. I was reading at the time, I heard the word skunk before I really paid much attention. She was nine years old!!! I did just look, I Googled it and did find the story pretty easily.
If people had any idea what the skunk does to keep the ecosystem in balance anybody with half a mind would understand why skunks are so important to the environment. I can't see the point in killing any animals for almost any reason.
I have ran into a lot of skunks in the wild and have never been sprayed. Even to the point of touching, removing harmful items that they get stuck in or on.

NINE YEARS OLD?!?! The shooter must have been drunk. I hope the little girl is okay.
