Alright, I must be totally missing something here. I'm going through these twisty woods, and I meet the guy who tells me to catch the butterflies for a nice reward. I passed him, and it took me to a dead end.

So, do I have to catch these butterflies to get myself to the temple, or am I missing something obvious?

And if I do have to catch them, any tips?

no you are able to walk on, there isn't a dead end

u don't have to do the butterfly hunt, but u'll be able to complete Kimarhis weapon when u come back after u hace the airship. if u not past that point yet-u'll still get rewards.if u run in2 the butterfly thats near the wierd guy (its multicolored) it'll start the hunt, and theres another course aswell-just run into the butterfly to start it. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

you don't have to do that sidequest immediately
