Last week in France, 100 women signed an open letter that deplored the new climate in Hollywood in which men accused of sexual harassment are losing their jobs without any trial or legal process. Actress Catherine Deneuve, who signed the letter, has continued the discussion by publishing her own thoughts in a Sunday paper. She states, "This climate of censorship leaves me speechless and worried about the future of our societies." Deneuve also reminds readers that she is "a free woman and I will continue to be." I think Deneuve needs to take into consideration that the legal system is often part of the problem, not taking the issue of harassment and assault seriously enough.
