Many foods are associated with a traditional American Thanksgiving dinner. But what do you suppose would be on the menu for Thanksgiving in space? Would you have to squeeze turkey paste out of a tube and get gelatin-covered dessert cubes? No. Food has improved since the early days of space flight.

Thanksgiving in Space

I posted this:

Here's a short video about Thanksgiving on the ISS from a previous year. Turn off the sound if you find the music annoying - all the explanation you need is written on the screen.

Americans will probably notice that the meal in space isn't quite what's put on the table at your family Thanksgiving. In fact, there isn't even a table. But no long preparation and no dishes to wash looks good!

But the link didn't go to the video. Here's a replacement: How to prepare turkey tetrazzini in space. It's less than a minute long. Oh, and no good trying this at home, folks.

Take just over a minute to see Thanksgiving on the ISS a few NASA clips of American astronauts and their crewmates in holiday spirits.

Mom always told you not to play with your food. But it looks like that's part of the fun of meals in space. (In fact, looking at the food, that may be all of the fun of meals in space.)

Thanksgiving 2017. Expedition 53 Commander Randy Bresnik and his crewmates, NASA’s Joe Acaba and Mark Vande Hei and Paolo Nespoli of the European Space Agency (ESA) offered their thoughts about being in orbit during the Thanksgiving holiday and the meal they will enjoy. On the day they'll be joined for a meal by their two Roscosmos crewmates, Alexander Misurkin and Sergey Ryazanskiy.

Disappointingly, no footage of them at dinner. Mom always told you not to play with your foot, but you can really cut loose when you're in space. I guess you need something to liven up the food.
