It's really depressing. The Los Angeles Times published an article yesterday in which 38 women accused writer-director James Toback of sexual harassment. As in the case of producer Harvey Weinstein, the behavior had gone on for decades. Toback wrote the screenplay for "The Gambler" (1974), starring James Caan and one of my favorite films from the seventies. He also wrote and directed a documentary about the Cannes Film Festival called "Seduced and Abandoned", which I think I discussed in one of my newsletters. It's dangerous to admire anyone in the film industry, apparently.
