Cinematographer John Bailey was named the new president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences on Tuesday Night. Actress Laura Dern was also a possibility for the position. Dern has been busy with her film career, lately, and that was apparently a factor in the decision. Bailey, a 74-year-old veteran, will have to wrestle with problems concerning the Academy Museum, which is over-budget and behind schedule.
