Thanks April. I started working in libraries when I was really young. I was asked if I wanted a summer "job" by my school librarian when I "graduated" 5th grade...I loved it. Then when I became a senior in highschool, I worked for our town's public library back in Jersey. After highschool, I moved through life with a variety of jobs - retail, payroll...etc...now here it is 30 years later and I'm back in the library, talk about full circle.
I'm the HR Manager. Funny though when I tell people I work for the library they always say - "you don't look like a librarian." or they introduce me to their friends as a librarian. Many people assume that everyone who works in a library is a librarian.
I know what you mean about reading the books, however, I'm not even in the actual library building, but I always have about 30 books checked out. The cool thing though is that late fees are waived for library employees - good thing for me :-)
