Emmanuelle Bercot won the Best Actress Award at Cannes in 2015 for this tale of "amour fou", directed and co-written by Maiwenn.
Bercot plays Tony, a lawyer who suffers a traumatic knee injury while skiing. During her recovery, she contemplates her decade-long destructive relationship with Georgio (Vincent Cassel). Maiwenn stated Tony's character is a woman who is ready to be a victim. This made it difficult for me to identify with the character. While some critics have described this film as "ultra-romantic" and psychologically astute, it left me cold. Catherine Breillat's film "Abuse of Weakness" has a similar storyline, but executes it much better. Both films are in French with English subtitles. You can watch them online or on DVD.
