We see a lot of celebrating on March 17, the day we call Saint Patick's Day. Let's look at Patrick and see what can be learned from him relating to living a Christian life.

Saint Patrick

I was trying to listen to a webinar about the life of St. Patrick but I was interrupted a couple of times. It is archived and so will try it again.

Although his grandfather and father were in the church, they were also tax collectors and being ordained was one way to avoid the penalty of being responsible for paying the taxes they were unable to collect. Patrick was rather lax and uneducated. He wrote his "confession" but in poor Latin. He did know Scripture though and devoted his life to evangelization.

Isn't it great that we don't have to be well educated to love Jesus and share the gospel.

As an aside: In the Protestant Bible, anyone who believes and relies on the saving grace of Jesus Christ is called a saint.

You are right - even in the Catholic Church; however, we also canonize people who have left a legacy, sort of like super heroes, and are especially meant to be emulated as role models.

St. Patrick is one.

Role models are important.
