About 60 million light years away from us in the constellation Volans is the spiral galaxy
NGC 2397Look at the colors in the galaxy. The outer spiral arms hshow a lot of blue - this shows that there has been recent star formation. Hot young stars are blue. In contrast to this, the nucleus of the galaxy is more of a red-yellow color. This is because these are much older stars.
The galaxy was discovered by the English astronomer and polymath
John Herschel in 1835.
