Writing requires focus, cooperation, and sleep. Try using time management tools to accomplish everything your life demands and still have time to write your own short stories.

Great advice! I used to have more writing time. This year, I had to cut back. Soon, I'll have more time, since retirement will cut 60 hours out of my work week! Yay!

Congratulations on retirement. That is wonderful and I'm sure you'll enjoy the extra time for yourself.

And bless you. I know how difficult ADD is on everyone in the family. You're tackling a tough path to walk.

When I worked at a hotel there was a writer that checked in twice a year and would stay for two weeks. Shad Hemlstetter. He writes motivational books like What to Say When You Talk to Yourself. He told me that when he's not at the hotel he's home fleshing out ideas and making outlines. He would check into the hotel for those two weeks and walk around the hotel room talking to himself with the tape recorder on. His wife would type this stuff up and the revising would begin. He said at the end of the two weeks he'd have a good manuscript - clean and error free to submit to his publisher.

Yes, writing takes true dedication. It can be difficult to squeeze in time, but if it isn't done your writing project will never happen.

When I was writing I did it when I wanted to. When I scheduled time for that it was like I had no idea at all or I did not wrote a lot. So when I felt like I needed to write I did it.

Maybe now that I have stopped and cannot start again that scheduling it would work.
