Mona, I purchased a telescope this morning. There was this Bushnall telescope for sale at our Women's Guild Bazaar yesterday and upon arrival at church this morning I asked if it sold. It didn't. So, I purchased it this morning. Of course, there is no instruction manual. I found the manual online and have downloaded it.

Hopefully, my grandsons might become interested too.

It says 1.5X Erecting Eyepiece
Inspector 02
Model 78-9512
700mm Focal Length
60mm Objective Length (11.7)
Designed by Bushnall

What fun, Angie. Bushnell has a good reputation for optical products. I have to admit I can just about manage with binoculars, have never had the patience for setting up - or lugging around - a telescope.

Be sure to keep us updated on how you're doing.

Mona, it's mounted on a tripod. I thought it would be fun and peak the interest of the grandchildren to learn to use. I will keep you posted.

Hints for this week from The Year in Space:

Quote:
At dusk this week, try hard to find Saturn low in the southwestern sky. Venus is close by and easier to spot. It's the brightest starlike object in the sky, a bit higher than Saturn and farther east (left). Mars, much dimmer than Venus, is higher still and father east and has a noticeable reddish hue. The Moon is at first quarter on Monday, becoming more illuminated each night. It is well-placed for viewing in the south, visible in the sky long before sunset. Jupiter is prominent in the southeastern sky before dawn.
