Are you 'old school' traditional music? Are you contemporary - upbeat?
A combination?

Some consider this song a new hymn on the level of traditional hymns.

The hymn Amazing Grace was published in 1779 and is still sung in most churches whether they are contemporary or traditional.

What poll? About Amazing Grace, I have mixed feelings about the song because it is so difficult to sing unless you are a soprano. As a result, I do not like the song. I know the story behind it though and can appreciate the text.

Hi Angie,
Thanks for your comments. I'm not a soprano and I sing Amazing Grace - I sing every song they sing in church - even if it irritates the people around me. smile

It Is Well With My Soul

The most important thing about whatever we sing in church, is the words - the meaning.
One of my favorite old hymns is I Love To Tell The Story. This hymn came from a poem written in 1866 and published as a hymn in 1869.

It isn't a popular song for modern churches. Listen to it on Youtube
