Screen Australia, the Australian government's film agency, has earmarked over $2 million dollars to fund projects developed by female filmmakers. Among the titles benefiting from the cash injection will be "Ride Like a Girl", the first feature film directed by actress Rachel Griffiths and based on the life of a successful female jockey. Currently, about 16% of Australian feature films are directed by women, and about 25% of the screenplays are written by women.
