One series I write is on zoo mystery stories. The shooting of Harambe greatly troubles me. Those gorillas are critically endangered. There should have been better safeguards. Did the exhibit actually have a solid chain-link fence or was it just wood slats they hoped people stayed behind?

Once the child was in the gorilla's hands and the keepers felt they couldn't get to him, I do understand the decision. It's unfair at that point to let the child die because of faults on the part of the zoo design team or the parents. But both, in my opinion, should now face consequences.

Zoos like aquariums, circuses and anything else that exists where animals are imprisoned should not exist!

I am always happy in a way when I hear about animals imprisoned dying because their life of misery is over.

In this case the fault totally lies on the mother of that kid. If that idiot would of been taking care of her child he would not of ended up there in the first place. There are barriers and other things that separate the heartless humans that go enjoy the misery of tortured animals to the prison of these poor innocent animals so it's not like it took that kid just a few seconds to end up in the prison of the Gorillas and it was also not easy for him to do it.

Plus saying they are just kids so they do not know places like that are awful is a bunch of lies. When I was very young I went to one circus and a few times again when very young I went to a zoo and everytime I was always sad when in these awful places. I could feel, see, hear and smell the misery of every of these animals.

Animals are not here for the entertainment of human beings! Animals are not cruel by choice and pleasure! Animals are intelligent! Animals have feelings! Animals are sentient living beings!

Zoos are not the answer for animals being killed to the point of extinction, the answer for it is to punish the humans who are responsible not to punish the animals; jails are not for the victims they are for the criminals!

I don't like zoos. I haven't been to one in many decades. It makes me sad. And also angry to see the animals kept in such unnatural conditions.

In the case of the gorilla . . .

(1) What sort of separation is there between the poor gorilla and all the spectators? Surely it should be adequate to keep a child out.

(2) Good grief! What was/were the child's parent(s) doing?
