A very interesting story: Archaeologists discover world's oldest tea buried with ancient Chinese emperor. Tea was one of the valuable things that Han Dynasty Emperor Jing Di wanted in the next world, so there was some entombed with him. The tea is 2,150 years old and was identified using modern forensic techniques. Apparently, the tea wasn't the ordinary leaves, but the "small unopened leaves of the tea plant, usually considered to be of superior quality." But, of course! What would be the point of being an emperor if you couldn't have first class tea?

Absolutely! Having tea makes me feel rich. Seriously, I love having several boxes around the house! It also makes me feel like a writer!

Dear Mona, Thank you for finding this article!
I had heard of this and have written several articles regarding different dynastys and their love and worship of tea. This is, however, astounding that the science can identify it down to the unopened leaves! Truly unbelieveable!
Tea was only thought as medicinal at one time and was also used as money or trade. It was also for the aristocrats because it was also very expensive!
Great article find!
Thank you!

Dear Tea Readers,
Did you know that China has the earliest records of tea drinking?
They date to the 1st mellennium BCE and then the Han Dynasty from 206 BCE-220CE used tea as only medicine!
That's a long time ago!
