Dear Tea Readers,
Here are two (as of this date writing) of the most expensive tea pots in the world:
1. Yixing Zish Teapot that was created in 1948 by a master ceramicist, Gu Jing Zhou who made his pottery in the 20th century and was quite noteable.
It was made of rare purple clay in China. It is said that the minerals that are in the clay enhance and are even good for the tea drinker! This tea pot also has calligraphic engravings by Hu Fan on the pot itself. It also has bamboo carvings made by painter Jiang Handing. Tea pots of this type are often closely tied to Chinese Literature.
It went for the unbvelievable price of 2 million in May of 2010 at the auction in Beijing!
2.The second, was a Yixing Stoneware pot that went for 1.32 million. It was sold for 1.32 million by I.M. Chiat auction in March of 2014.
Wow! I am certain these are museum quality items!

Dear Michelle, On this particular information on this tea set, no one is mentioned as to the owner. I believe it to be sitting centerpiece on some rich executives credenza or perhaps a jewelers home as it was made of ruby and gold~ Or perhaps a real tea lover as the tea pot was shaped like a dragon!
My true hope is that it is in a museuum somewhere for all to see~

Mary - I hope you are right. I would hate to think that it's not being enjoyed. It is a beautiful set! Have you ever seen "Keeping Up Appearances"? With Mrs. Bucket? If so, would you agree she would love this Tea Set? Chel

Dear Michelle,
I'm not sure if I have ever heard of this. I'll have to look it up. I do think anyone with an eye for art and a love for tea would love a tea set like this, or any type (says I since I have none myself!)

Dear Tea Cup/Tea Pot collectors,
Did you know you can check places like:
ebay, etsy, or Replacements(dot)com to find a value on a cup that might be in your possession.
Make sure if there is a "mark" on your cup search using the name that appears if any. If there are none refer to the pictures or look on any of the other pieces that may be part of the set.
Have fun collecting.
