I was looking at a designer fashion show on the web. All of these dresses were white or cream. -Very pretty. Many of the models wore black shoes and sandals. - something that I was always taught never to do

What do you think?

I just finished Jury Duty here in Los Angeles. One day the Assistant District Attorney had on a grey suit with white sandals that were very thick and high heeled.

We all mentioned it as she passed us by in the hallway and it really stood out. I did not care for it and would think the same for a white outfit with black shoes.

They were doing a segment this morning on GMA about dressing in the workplace. I saw some unbelievable outfits the past six days at the court house. They even instructed jurors to wear business casual and no sandals, but I saw tons and several jurors were chewing gum!

I think it depends how you accesorize. I have a great, huge, black clutch, if you wore that with white, and maybe some black beaded jewlery, and sunglasses if you're outside I would say yes!

On the other hand, if I had just an all white dress, I'd probably go with pastel sandals, or something more summery.

To wear a black and white outfit is one thing, but black shoes are not meant to be with a white dress.

A white dress is light and delicate . . . .

Perhaps if it was a simple and fashionable dress, a large black hat, black purse, and black shoes. . . .

Maybe

I totally agree that this is the only way to wear black shoes with a white dress.

I was always taught that you NEVER wear black shoes with a white dress, and even though I am a traditionalist at heart I do agree with modern fashion that you can wear black shoes with a white dress. But here are my personal rules for doing so:

I must have sheer black stockings. (Not opaque black stockings, not tights, and I probably go as far as to say no flesh tones either. And PLEASE for the love of all that's good, do not EVER wear white stockings with dark shoes. It's just wrong all the way around!)

Keep all accessories black. That means black purse, black pin, black earrings, etc.

But this is just my personal preference.

When I wear a dress I make sure that my shoes are the same color as the dress.

I dont wear white dresses. I think if you accessorized it correctly i believe you could pull off the white outfit black shoes look.

I think it's cool depending on the style of the dress. I wore a white cotton baby doll dress with black platform heels. The look worked because the dress was more casual. However, white on black does not fair well if the dress is fancy. There is too much of a clash. Something is "off" when an elegant white dress is paired with black heels. It feels wrong. My opinion smile.
