Dear Hockey lovers,
What do you think about the latest in hockey play with Duncan Keith receiving a 5 minute match penalty for intent to injure~ thus resulting in an ejection for Keith.
In the game vs. Minnesota Wild, Chicago Blackhawks Duncan Keith was flattened on his back by player Charlie Coyle. A high stick slash was called on Keith .
Many know Keith as one of the hardest working defensemen in all of the NHL. One also may know that he is an intelligent player, He is no different than any of the other players. Spending an incredible amount of ice time for the Blackhawks. The Chicago Blackhawks team is basically known as a finesse team rather than a fighting or bully team.
Still even with Keith's long and great career, he has had suspensions.
Way back in March of 2012 Keith was suspended for 5 games for an elbow to Canuck Daniel Sedin, *many will argue that this was an upper end of unreasonable suspension. The league wanted to make an example as concussion entered into the forum of decisions.
then in June of 2013, a one game suspension was imposed for a hit to L.A. Kings Jeff Carter. Which seemed as if it were almost an after thought "oh we better suspend him or something"!
This will play into the decision for the hearing that will take/or has taken place at this writing but has not been released to the public!
Many penalties were not actually called in that game, and some would argue that Charlie Coyle returned to the game in less than 5 minutes, should also well play into the decision that The Department of Safety should consider.
Your thoughts?
