The death of Patty Duke was announced by her family today. She was 69 years old. Duke was a star of stage, screen and television. She won an Oscar for her role as Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker" (1962). She also won three Emmy Awards for her television work. Duke was President of the Screen Actors Guild from 1985-88. Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder in the 1980s, she worked as an advocate on mental health issues.
