Good one. I've been contemplating an article on gardening efforts in space, but still haven't quite got around to it. In the current state of the art, I wouldn't want it to be what stood between me and starvation!

Mona, I chuckled at your last sentence. I totally understand. And that would be a fascinating article. I have always wanted to ask how you became interested in Astronomy?

Chel, I've been interested in space since I was quite young. I always loved the night sky. But I wasn't any good at working out what was in the sky from a book and there was no one to teach me. And my youthful dream of being an astronaut was quickly eroded by learning more about it. And when I realized if you itched, you couldn't scratch in a space suit, that was the absolute end of that.

I finally signed up for a basic astronomy course in college, but when it all seemed to be physics, gave it up.

However many years later, having got a better a grip on physics, took it up again. A good move because it's in the school curriculum and I needed to deal with it as a science teacher. I did an online master's degree in astronomy and a course at University College London. No stopping me then! (But I still get confused looking at the sky in a dark site . . . so many stars!!!)

Mona! That is cool. I totally understand the physics issues. Not at all one of my better classes. In fact, Math, Science and I are not very good friends!

I live in the city, so star gazing can often be hard due to lights, billboards, so on and so on. When traveling, I have had the opportunity to see a dark sky and that has been beautiful. We have a place here called The Center For Science and Industry that has a planetarium room.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I love reading your posts. I might not always understand everything at first, but I follow.

Your passion is contagious!

Chel
