Would love to hear your New Year resolutions if you're happy to share them. Sometimes sharing them with others can help to keep you accountable if you need the support to keep them up.

When setting goals, start with small simple ones so that you are not overwhelmed with too much to do at once. Taking small steps and celebrating your achievements along the way helps to keep you on track and more confident about then tackling bigger more challenging goals.

I will share. This year, I decided not to overwhelm myself with the world resolution. I am refining myself this year.
smile

I am going to make a Refinement's List. Things I would like to change over a period of time, things I would like to tune up inside and outside of myself. I am also going to write down the things I currently do and would like to improve, as well as things I would like to explore and learn.

This year, I, Michelle Anne Cope, wish to refine the following in my life.

The Amount of Picture Books I Will Read
The Amount of Teen Nonfiction Books I Will Read
The Amount of Picture Books I Will Write, Create and Complete
The Amount of Nonfiction Books I Will Write, Create and Complete
The Amount of Posters I Will Plan, Create and Complete
I Will Complete the Library Dedication Book and It Will Be Printed
My Weight Is An Issue I Will Address
My Smoking Is An Issue I Will Address
My Overall Health Is An Issue I Will Address
My Attitude and Patience Are Issues I Will Address
I Will Create One Set of Greeting Cards
I Will Create A Business Card
I Will Write Articles Ahead for the Teen Site
I Will Watch More Movies
I Will Listen To More Music
I Will Watch For Peace Over Willing for Drama
I Will Learn How To Use Painter
I Will Learn How To Build My Wardrobe
I Will Learn The Dewey Decimal System
I Will Learn In-Design
I Will Play The Ukulele More

One at a time - no stress, no guilt!

These are refinements and goals created and recorded by Michelle Anne Cope, Sunday, January 3rd, 2016.

Hi Chel, thank you for sharing smile That is a lot of refining! Sometimes too much can feel overwhelming.

I suggest picking the most important one on the list and start with that, then work through the next one etc. Perhaps 2 or 3 refinements a month is achievable or perhaps not.

I find it useful to ask myself the following::

What can I do now to start to make this a reality?
What steps are needed?
Are they realistic, logical and achievable?
How will I monitor my progress?
How much time will I set aside for each refinement? (some may need more time than others)
Have I got anyone that can keep me accountable? (would you like to report your progress on here and/or I can ask you each week how it's going if that would help?)
Who will I speak to when/if I start to feel overwhelmed or struggling?
What will I do to celebrate each achievement?

Hope that helps to make it feel more manageable

Tracy! Thank you!

Two things I need and want to work on is the picture books and The Library Book Dedication Project.

Here is why - The Library Project needs to be complete and printed by June, when the new library opens. I need to break this down and see how many pages I have left to complete and what my game plan needs to be for them.

The picture books are important because I'm building a portfolio to go along with the library project and a community center that has just opened in our community. I already have one complete for my portfolio. These will be completed examples to show what I can do. smile

That is also a project that can be broken down. Right now, I have one project open, and I need to finish planning it out and create the pages.

These are very important to me. Without a huge explanation, this is my talent, this is what I can do right now in my life.

So, now I have two things I can plan out!

Thank you!

You're welcome smile

Sounds like you've got the start of a plan smile I find that breaking things down to manageable steps makes it feel less of a huge task to complete. Good luck! It sounds like an exciting venture!

Hi Chel! How's it going?

I've decided to break mine down into monthly chunks.

This month my goal is to:

Buy a website and get it up and running by the end of January - sounds easy enough lol!

Hi Tracy!
It's going really good.
I am working on my Picture Book Portfolio the rest of this weekend and over the weekend.
I forgot I had one book completed that I wanted to spruce up a bit. Working on that tonight and in the morning, hope to finish "Chef Jeff and Gus" by Sunday as well. That would put my count of finished picture books at three. I have an outline for a Valentine's Day book and another for a book on writing. That would give me the total of five that I wanted.
And I have also been reading. smile
How is your website project going?
Chel

Hi Chel!

Sounds great. So glad to hear that everything is going so well. Well done to you for keeping going smile

Mercury has gone retrograde for the next 3 weeks which is to with communications, travel and technology. Not that I'm superstitious or anything...the website company have not been forthcoming about hosting the site, a course I want to attend kept kicking me off its site so I couldn't book my place and my PayPal account has been restricted and they are waiting for confirmation of my address. Feels like a conspiracy lol! Maybe I need to step back and re-evaluate.

When things don't flow i take it as a sign that I'm not meant to be doing it or I need more information before I commit or the time is right...

I'm going to try again today and if nothing works again I'll take it as I'm on the wrong track... Wish me luck!

Tracy smile
