I admit to being a bit more scattered this year than other years. The presents are mostly bought; I just have one more to get. Nothing is wrapped. I need to work on that today.

If you need a nice holiday dinner that is quick and easy to do, try this one.

Boiled shrimp with seafood sauce
Baby potatoes cooked with the shrimp
Salad from the local salad bar or Veggie tray from the local store
Crackers or garlic bread
Brownies (I like ALDI or Ghiradelli.)
Juices and sparkling drinks

A lot of people mess up boiled shrimp and turn it into either mush or tiny bits of rubber. Here is a method of cooking shrimp that works every time.

I mentioned to someone the other day that this Christmas has been difficult. I do not know if it is my age, just being too busy, the politics, and layered with the bad news from around the world.

It's still a Merry Christmas to me until I take down my tree on Jan 2nd. My girls celebrate their birthday on Dec 31st. I never want the season to end!

I take my tree down on Epiphany - the 12th day of Christmas - January 6th.

Sometimes I keep mine up until my birthday--February 1st. It's just so darned festive. Of course, that used to be a bit of a problem when it was a real tree. Those were the shag carpet days!

What are your plans for New Year's Eve? If you have a young twentyish child with ADD, be sure to have the drinking and driving talk. We always told our young adults that if they found themselves without a sober designated driver, please call us. We would go pick them up, no matter where they were with no lectures. I would far rather do that than have them in a wreck.
