First I guess it's important to explain what a fat advocate is. Or maybe it's easier to say what it isn't. A fat advocate doesn't pass out candy bars to all the kids going by. A fat advocate isn't part of a conspiracy to get the whole world fat. A fat advocate isn't someone who is trying to get fat.
Fat advocates want equality in the workplace, at the club and in the family. They want to be accepted as human individuals and not as a load of unwanted subcutaneous tissue. Fat advocates stand up for one another when they see something is wrong. A fat activist is so much more than the fat they carry.
Can you be a silent fat advocate? Sure, just like you can be a silent feminist. Belief and action doesn't have to be a picket line.
