When I was in college, I used to drink up to six cans of diet soda a day! I think the evidence shows that artificial sweeteners are almost as unhealthy as sugar, so I've kicked the soda habit altogether.
Even soda with artificial sweeteners are dangerous - if you're trying to lose weight or maintain your weight - because they are sweet and it encourages having a sweet tooth. One expects things to be sweeter than they should be.
