You may or may not have heard that an Australian child recently was filmed being bullied by a smaller child (shorter/thinner). Casey Heynes took at least three assaults against himself before he retaliated.

There are two boats of people responding toward this: a fraction are saying good for him and another fraction are saying that the fat boy in effect turned around and bullied the other boy.

You can watch a full interview with Casey Heynes and see the sad and disturbing video clip.

Personally, I can understand where Casey is coming from. But watching the video of him picking up the smaller child and body slamming him scares me. I think Casey needed to defend himself for sure but I think he might have gone a wee bit overboard -- he could have done some real damage to this child -- and if he had, the back story of the bullying he has endured would have been lost in the criminality of his actions.

I think it is important to applaud children for standing up for themselves but I think it is also important to talk to them about limitations and when to seek help from an adult.

The other boy should have thought about the consequences before he started hitting the bigger boy. I think Casey was very self controlled, a quick slam dunk put an end to the nasty little bullies tactics.

My youngest son was bullied for years for being, bigger, fatter, smarter, not the right colour, his name... He didn't fight back for a long time because I told him to ignore people. When he finally did hit back, at a much older and bigger boy, he got into trouble for hurting the kid who had made his life hell.

Hey Linda,
I completely agree with you the little boy should have thought earlier. I think what Casey did is a lesson for many and now no one will do it in near future.

The trouble is that any defensive action - especially by an untrained person can cause unintentional harm. In most children's fights they aim at the person, and any throws result in both parties going down rather than a clean impact shown here. Most of my wifes' grandchildren know some form of combat, plus verbal judo, to avoid any unintentional harm to someone who attacks them

The bully was quite small right? If that's it I remember seeing that video and it was awesome! He did not go overboard at all. If it was me I would of done worst. Bullies are evil and they all deserve what they get and more when their victims or other people give them a taste of what they do! The moment you cross a line you have no right to complain when someone wants to put you back on the line.

The latest of these videos is the teenager who defended his friend who is legally blind. The first thing that came in my head when I saw that worthless disgusting bully get hit was I hope that he became blind from that hit or/and fall; some may find what I just wrote disturbing and I don't care, that dirtbag was hitting someone who not only did nothing to him but also someone who is legally blind so one sucker punch was the least of what he deserved!
