Hi there,

Let's hope this works, it's a link to a page of info on the meanings of different flowers - a bit of fun.

http: //aggie-horticulture. tamu. edu/archives/parsons/publications/flowers/flowers.html

Just cut and paste it to your browser but remove the spaces after http and horticulture

Cheers

Hello there,

just in case it is too much of a fuss to follow the link above, I thought I would transfer the information over time ... From Aggie Horticulture (Texas A&M AGRILIFE Extension)

"As every flower lover knows, flowers have a language of their own. Every sentiment is expressed in one form or another by these fragile blooms and as a leading psychologist states...

"FLOWERS ARE A PERFECT REPLICA OF HUMAN LIFE"

Planting - Growth - Bloom - Withering

Here are the 'A' meanings.

* Acacia (Blossom) Concealed Love, Beauty in Retirement, Chaste Love
* Acorn Nordic Symbol of Life and Immortality
* Ambrosia Your Love is Reciprocated
* Amaryllis Pride, Pastoral Poetry
* Anemone Forsaken
* Arbutus Thee Only Do I Love
* Aster Symbol of Love, Daintiness
* Azalea Take Care of Yourself for Me, Temperance, Fragile Passion, Chinese Symbol of Womanhood

I wonder who set these meanings and how old they are?

Anyway, on another day I will carry on down the alphabet and in the meantime, encourage you to grow or plan to grow something new in a container soon - seasons notwithstanding!

Cheers

'D' meanings are as few as the flowers but there are no 'E' flowers - unless you can you think of any. I have been racking my brain without much luck at all except to say 'evergreen' (which may not count except as a tree?)

'F' follows here too ...

*Daffodil Regard, Unequalled Love, You're the Only One, The Sun is Always Shining When I'm with You
*Daisy Innocence, Loyal Love, I'll Never Tell, Purity
*Dandelion Faithfulness, Happiness
*Dead Leaves Sadness

Weeds are not counted so maybe Dandelion should not be considered one?

*Fern Magic, Fascination, Confidence and Shelter
*Fern (Maidenhair) Secret Bond of Love
*Fir Time
*Flax Domestic Symbol
*Forget-Me-Not True Love, Memories
*Forsythia Anticipation

Cheers
