Liked your review. I also enjoyed the movie and thought Matt Damon was excellent. Backed up by a great cast, fast-paced direction and a sparky script.
I've considered writing a review - of the science aspects - but haven't been moved to do that yet. I will say that I could go along with it until the actual rescue. I did not buy that at all. Also wondered if he got off Mars, how long would he live? Mars has no atmosphere or magnetic field to protect against solar storms.
But still at least the story flowed and was plausible for something set in the future. Not like Gravity which was not only scientifically ridiculous, but worse that, complete nonsense in terms of characterization. If these two useless individuals were the Right Stuff, the astronaut corps had definitely gone downhill when they were sent into space.
