Worrying seems to be our favourite past time. We have got so accustomed to worrying that living it without it seems un-natural.

Here is my latest article which helps you to understand the nature of worry Dealing With Over-Worrying

Over worrying can lead to creating cognitive distortions and beliefs that bad things will happen to us. We tend to project our fears into a future that doesn't exist and believe the thoughts we have about it.

Can you relate to over worrying? It would be great if you felt to share your experiences which may then help others over come their challenges.

Thanks smile

Great article Tracy!

As I'm getting older, I'm finding that worry affects me more and more. My jaw gets tight and painful, my muscles hurt, my digestion is thrown off!! And, you're right, my body goes through the experience as if what I'm worrying about has actually happened, even when it hasn't.

Often this happens if I wake in the middle of the night. If it's before 3:30am, I'll stay in bed, and repeat over and over, in my head, "I love you." I'll just say that over, and over, and then generally I can fall asleep. If I'm up till 4am, I just give up and get up. I can usually find something to distract me, and the worrying is over LOL.

Breathing deeply too, that's a huge help.

Hi Deanne,

Thanks for sharing smile I like the 'I love you' mantra. Its such a good practice to love ourselves even when things aren't feeling great - or we can't sleep. Takes away from blaming ourself and triggering the nasty voice in our heads.

Breathing, counting the breath and counting backwards from 100 to 1 is really helpful to bring your attention to one thing...
