Vance - I really enjoyed this article. I have been to California and visited Alcatraz, and live in Columbus, Ohio which was home to the Ohio State Penitentiary many years ago. For no particular reason, I do find the history of prisons interesting. I also worked as a reporter for a newspaper that was located near a town in Ohio known as Junction City. The closed Junction City Prison was used for the filming of the movie Brubaker. It was very interesting to read about the history of Folsom Prison, as well as some of the inmates it housed.

Thank you, Michelle. I too enjoy the history of prisons. If you haven't read it already, you should check out my article on Andersonville prison from the Civil War.

Vance - WOW! Thank you for the lead to the article about the Andersonville prison. Excellent article! It was chilling and uncomfortable at the same time. I about spit my coffee out when I came to the part about the prison's drinking water!!!!!

I know. I cannot even imagine the horrors there that are not even known by others who were not there. It sounded horrific enough from my research but I am sure there was a lot more that no one really knew about, outside of the walls of the prison.
