Finding the right shoe to accommodate my needs is not easy. Currently, the shoe that I most often wear is a pair of extra-depth walking shoes made by New Balance (model WW929).
I too have tried the New Balance brand for work (as I am on my feet alot) and found them to be a good shoe.
My current pair is a pair of Nike walkers, but after about 1 hour of being on my feet my knees and hips start to hurt - not what I would expect for an expensive shoe. Suggests to me I may need an insert.
Allyson, I wear custom-made orthotic inserts in my NB and other shoes and find the to be essential to the health of my feet, and for reducing pain in my feet, hips, and lower back. With my orthotics, I find that I do need an extra-depth shoe, such as the NB WW928.
