I'm not pregnant yet - we're trying - and have heard that dying your hair could be bad for the baby. I dye my hair every 6 weeks or so....should I quit before I get pregnant, or during the pregnancy?

I always say "Do what your doctor tells you to do." I have know whomen who have tinted their hair for forty years, through pregnancies and after with no ill effects to the baby or themselves. But many doctors now say not to use haircolor while you are pregnant. I think it is a small price to pay for being more sure of a healthy baby.
Oh, and Good Luck with the trying!

As different chemicals are used in diff. hair dyes, to be safe, one should avoid all chemical hair treatments.

That's my hubby's view, that I should avoid chemicals while pregnant. He hasn't seen my greys yet, though! (not that he'd care, I know he wouldn't mind. It's me - I prefer to keep them covered up)

well, it's a life at risk. You can always go back to dying your hair after your pregnancy. Better safe than sorry, right?

Yes. That is what all doctors say. because science does not have all the answers as yet. Better to be safe.

During pregnancy, it is not only hair treatments, but innocent looking creams that may cause damage. anything that contains Vit. A derivatives is strict no. Better to show what all you are using to your doctor.

They say it's safe, but I would avoid as many chemicals as possible during pregnancy. Better safe than sorry.

Science is always evolving. What is safe today, may be declared unsafe tomorrow.

To be safe I would stay away from dyeing my hair (and anything else that could be dangerous to the fetus) if I would be pregnant.
