"The Revenant", starring Leonardo DiCaprio, will be released on Christmas Day but you can watch the trailer online now. The movie is based on Michael Punke's book "The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge". DiCaprio plays the protagonist, Hugh Glass, a fur trapper in the 1800s. He gets mauled by a grizzly bear, then robbed and left for dead. Not surprisingly, he gets angry and plans to exact revenge. The film is directed by Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu.

Update: "The Revenant" opened this past weekend and did extremely well at the box office. Also, at last night's Golden Globe Awards, "The Revenant" won best dramatic actor for Leonardo DiCaprio, Best Director for Alejandro Inarritu, and Best Picture - Drama.

Update: The Screen Actors Guild Awards were held last night. Leonardo DiCaprio won the best male actor in a leading role award for "The Revenant". This means he is the frontrunner to also win the Oscar for this role. It would be his first Academy Award for acting.

Update: "The Revenant" continues to rack up awards. At the BAFTA Awards this evening (the British version of the Academy Awards), "The Revenant" took home five of the honors: Best Film, Best Director (Alejandro Inarritu), Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio), Best Cinematography (Emmanuel Lubezki), and Best Sound.

Update: Alejandro Inarittu and Leonardo DiCaprio won Academy Awards last night in the director and lead actor category. Both gave excellent acceptance speeches. Inarittu said he hoped that one day the color of a person's skin would make no more difference that the length of a person's hair. DiCaprio talked about climate change and the need for citizens to work together to protect the environment and indigenous peoples.
