As many of you may know, am the Crime site editor here but I am here to talk about a Facebook group called the Iron Writer. It is a fun and supportive writing group plus we have weekly writing challenges where the owner of the site, Brian Rogers, will post four elements and you are to use those elements in a 525 word story.
The stories get voted on and a winner is chosen plus you can receive feedback from other irons on your story. There are published authors on there as well and they are very supportive of your work and will help you get published as well.
Just search for the Iron Writer on Facebook and search for the actual website online. It is a lot of fun and you should check it out if you have the time.
One of he stories I did had the elements:
a cactus couch
a mastodon head
a judge's gavel
a newborn baby
Those of us in the challenge had to write a story using all of these elements in it. It is quirky and fun.
Brian Rogers is also working hard to try and get the Iron Writer into schools.
If you are looking for something challenging and fun to write or you just need a kick start to get your writing career started, come check out the Iron Writer.
I have also posted about this site in the Iron Writer too.
