Clint Eastwood and Warner Bros. are currently in talks with Tom Hanks. It was recently announced that Eastwood was going to direct a film about Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, who made an amazing landing on the Hudson River when his plane experienced engine trouble. Eastwood is considering Hanks for the lead role, rather than playing Sullenberger himself.

I think William Fichtner would be a good choice. Fichtner isn't an A-list star like Tom Hanks, but he is an excellent actor and someone who disappears into his character.

Yes, a good role for De Niro. He needs to get back to serious dramatic parts. Viggo Mortensen would also work, I think.
