Growing up I always seemed to get the teachers that said, "We expect more of you." I think this is a terrible thing to tell a kid. For one thing -- I needed some downtime. For another thing, in my head I always answered silently, "WHY do you expect more?" but never dared to say it out loud.
To this day (I'm now 66), it's the first I say to myself in the morning and then the busyness and stress begins.
